JAIPUR: An exhibition of paintings of Italian artist Mario Prencipe beginning here on Sunday will present a rich medley of dark and bright colours depicting abstract ideas from diverse cultures across the world. Mario Prencipe, whose works were published in the Italian art catalogue, "Elite'' after he received the prestigious Mose Bianchi prize, said here on Saturday that the subjects of his paintings had emerged from his cosmopolitan lifestyle and impressions gathered during his journeys around the world. Samanvai art gallery at Ganapathi Plaza here will host Mario Prencipe's spectacular insights into the life and culture of various Asian and African countries in the 10-day exhibition. Two of the oil paintings will portray the ambience of the holy town of Pushkar in Rajasthan, where Mario spent a couple of weeks last year. Mario Prencipe said some of the paintings would highlight the "bewilderment and confusion'' experienced by European artists on their first visit to India. He said the depiction of India in the artistic works was a challenging task in view of the country's intricate and varied culture.
