New Delhi: Seven of the nine accused in the murder of Congress councillor Atma Ram Gupta four years ago on Saturday denied their involvement in the case. Recording their statements before a fast-track court here, prime accused Sharda Jain, a former municipal councillor, her brother and five others categorically denied the charges of murdering Gupta after kidnapping him from a Congress rally at Ferozshah Kotla ground on August 24, 2002. Sharda also refuted the charges that she took Gupta to a village in Ghaziabad district to get him eliminated and entered into a conspiracy with the village head, Roshan, and seven others. Gupta was a municipal councillor from Trinagar while Sharda represented Keshavpuram at the time of the incident. Additional Sessions Judge Bharat Parashar recorded the statements. - PTI.
