NEW DELHI: Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here will host a national conference of the Vascular Society of India this month. With millions of Indians suffering from vascular diseases due to wide prevalence of diabetes, the conference will discuss some important related issues. "Ignorance among patients suffering from peripheral arterial diseases is very common. Reaching out and educating these people can save thousands of patients from possible amputations. The high-risk patients of peripheral arterial diseases include elderly, smokers, diabetics and high cholesterol patients. Despite being as common as heart disease, the awareness regarding this disease among the general population is very poor," said Dr. B.K. Rao of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. The theme of the conference, "The Endovascular Revolutions", will provide a baseline treatment protocol to utilise the existing facilities optimally. The conference will focus on technological advances that have that taken place recently in the country and abroad.
