CHENNAI: In order to assist the Corporate tax payers who are facing difficulties in the new procedure of e-filing, the Income Tax Department here opened a "help centre" on Saturday. The deadline for e-filing corporate tax returns has been extended up to November 30. C.R. Ravichandran, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Chennai-I, who inaugurated the facility said the help centre would function at Room No.014, ground floor of the main building at the Aayakar Bhavan, 121, Nungambakkam High Road, Chennai-34. Equipped with four computer terminals with broadband connectivity, the centre would be manned by staff of the department. They would assist the corporate tax payers in the process of e-filing. It would function on all days including holidays between 9-30 a.m. and 5-30 p.m. Those needing assistance could contact the centre telephonically by 28338738. Similar help centres had also been set up in Coimbatore, Madurai, and Tiruchi, Mr.Ravichandran added.
