MANGALORE: Sangeet Bharati Foundation in order to apprise music lovers of Hindustani music is organising a music festival "Bhairav - Kalyan Utsav" at the Town Hall here on November 12. According to Narendra Nayak, vice-president of the foundation, the programme, to be held in two sessions, will feature some of the leading names from the field of Hindustani music. Mr. Nayak told presspersons here on Thursday, that the morning session will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and afternoon session from 2.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Salil Bhat, disciple of Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhat; Ashok Huggannavar, Honnavar, disciple of late Pandit Basavaraj Rajguru and Ankush N. Nayak, disciple of Ustad Rafique Khan will present satwik veena, vocal music and sitar recitals respectively in the morning session. In the afternoon session, Jayateerth Mevundi, Hubli, disciple of Pandit Sripathi Padegar will render a vocal concert. This will be followed by santoor recital by Pandit Satish Vyas, disciple of Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma. Kaivalya Kumar Gurav, Dharwad, disciple of Pandit Sangameshwar Gurav will provide the finishing touches with a vocal concert, he said. The entry is free but seats are reserved for special invitees.
