BANGALORE: The Kanakapura Assembly constituency unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has urged the Government to cooperate with Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise Ltd. in the implementation of the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project to help improve the living standards of villagers living in the vicinity of the project area. The president of the unit, B. Nagaraju, told presspersons here on Saturday that notices for land acquisition were issued in 1997-98. But farmers who had surrendered their land were put to hardship as they could neither sell nor develop their land because the Government had not initiated any further steps. Although the project was launched in 2004, many hurdles had been put in its way.
Court rulings
Despite several court rulings in favour of the project, the Government was standing on prestige at the cost of the development of the State. The Government should realise that it was improper on its part to try and cripple the project, which was a boon for the villages in the project area, Mr. Nagaraju said. Mr. Nagaraju urged the State BJP president D.V. Sadananda Gowda and Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa to convince the Government to expedite the project.
