KOCHI: Foster care concept, introduced for the rehabilitation of children rescued from the streets, is yet to take off, said P.D. Sarangadharan, Chief Judicial Magistrate and chairman of the Juvenile Justice Board, and A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish, Collector. They were interacting with mediapersons at the Collector's camp office here on Saturday. Out of 54 children rescued, 14 were returned to their native places and 40, including 11 girls, remained at various shelters in the city. "There continues to be a general reluctance in adopting children aged above 2 years." So far the Board received only 13 applications for providing foster care to these children. The application forms for this are available at the office of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, District Collector and the Department of Social Welfare.
