Bangalore: It was one of the largest recovery of its land on Saturday when Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) demolished unauthorised buildings located on 36 acres. The BDA put the value of the recovered land at Rs. 180 crore. Illegal structures had come up through encroachment on seven survey numbers of Hosakerahalli village and on two survey numbers in Gerehalli village, both close to Banashankari. There were close to 300 sheds with AAC sheet roofing and other land with compound walls. Except buildings covered by court stay orders, all others were demolished. The recovered property is now being fenced. There was tension in the area when the demolitions began and a large police force was deployed to ensure there was no interference from persons who had encroached on the recovered lands. Personnel of the KSRP and task forces of BDA and BMP were assisted by the local police. The operation was supervised by both BDA and BMP officials.
