New Delhi: India finished eighth in the World junior badminton championship after going down 1-3 to Thailand in the play-off match at Incheon, South Korea, on Sunday. Gurusai Dutt went down 19-21, 21-23 to Vilailak Pakkawat while Saina Nehwal lost to Chanida Julrattanamanee 15-21, 18-21. India's only win came in mixed doubles with Ashwini Ponappa and Tarun defeating Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk and Ancheera Kittiharakul 21-11, 21-14. Nithya Sosale and Ashwini put up a good fight before losing to Porntip Buranprasertsuk and Kittiharakul 11-21, 22-20, 12-21. PTI
