Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in parts of Panjetty including Alinjivakkam, Ponneri and Thatchoor between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday for maintenance.

Free courses

The Tamil Nadu Industrial Training Centre, functioning under R.M.Educational trust, is providing two-month free courses in data entry operations, computer hardware and desktop publishing in collaboration with Chennai Corporation.

Himalayan lakes

The Department of Posts is releasing a set of five commemorative stamps on Himalayan Lakes of India -- Chandratal, Roop Kund, Tsangu, Sela Lake and Tsomoriri, in the denomination of Rs. 5 each on Monday.

Health camp

About 290 persons were screened at a health camp organised by Hindu Mission Hospital, Tambaram along with Rotary Club at Maraimalainagar on Sunday. A team of seven doctors treated the patients for paediatrics, dental and skin problems and referred 24 persons for free eye surgeries and four for general surgeries.

Eye screening

Punjab Youth Association conducted a free eye camp on Sunday at Gokhale Hall, Armenian Street to mark birthday of Guru Nanak Dev. The association also provides free homeopathic medicine at 44/2, Armenian Street on all weekdays between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Ph: 2522 6166.

Panchayat chief honoured

R. Elango of Kuthambakkam village was recently presented For the Sake of Honour award by Rotary Club of Madras Silver Beach. The award was given in recognition of his decade long service for the development of the village.

Kamban Kazhagam office-bearers

Rm. Veerappan has been chosen as the president of Kamban Kazhagan for the second consecutive time at a meeting held recently. K. Rajaram, AVM Saravanan and S.Jagathrakshagan have been selected as vice presidents.
