Accountability I was disappointed over the lacklustre show of the Indian team in the Champions Trophy tournament. Credible performances have been few and far between. Nor is there a sense of commitment. Just like in other fields, accountability needs to be brought in. Let Dilip Vengsarkar induce fresh thinking in the selection formula. S. Ramanathan, Hyderabad Revamp hockey Hockey lovers watch with dismay the gradual deterioration in the standards of the sport which has brought maximum laurels to the country. Today Indian hockey is in total neglect with no grassroots approach. A revamp is needed to put the sport back on the rails. After the Chairman of the BCCI selection committee Dilip Vengsarkar's submission that India does not have an exceptional talent base, perhaps the Board would do well to make a serious effort in unearthing fresh talent than expect money alone to bring laurels.
