WTO compatible export subsidy for pepper to continue

KOCHI: The WTO compatible subsidy for export of yet another 9,000 tonnes of pepper and pepper products will be allowed on first come first-served-basis till March 2007, says a release from the Spices Board. The WTO compatible subsidy was announced to boost export of Indian pepper and help growers get remunerative prices with effect from October 28, 2005. Only 11,000 tonnes have been exported after the introduction of the scheme.
