MANGALORE : Three persons, who sustained severe burns in two separate fire accidents reported from Barke (Gandhinagar) and in Kavoor police station limits during the weekend, died of their injuries in hospitals in the city where they had been taken for treatment on Sunday. According to the Barke police, Suresh Shetty (45) and Pramod (22), residents of Dasappa Karkera, sustained burns when an LPG cylinder burst into flames. Police said the fire was caused by a gas leak from the cylinder. Suresh, who was an autorickshaw driver, was admitted to District Government Wenlock Hospital, while Pramod was admitted to a private hospital here, according to police. The third victim was identified as Pushpa (50), a resident of Kavoor, who sustained burns on Saturday when her sari caught fire while she was cooking using firewood. She died on Sunday. Pushpa was alone at home at the time of the accident. Police found a can of kerosene and several burnt matchsticks at the spot. Pushpa's neighbours rushed her to the government hospital, but it proved futile.
