Vehicles damaged as tree falls on them
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
Two autorickshaws and a car were damaged after a 200-year-old banyan tree fell on them on Venkatapura Main Road in Madivala police station limits around 11.30 a.m. on Monday.
The police said children of a nearby school used to play under the huge tree everyday during their lunch break. There would have been loss of lives had the tree collapsed during that hour, they said.
Fire in factory
Batteries were destroyed in a fire that broke out in a factory in Jigani industrial area on the outskirts of the city in the early hours of Monday. The police said two fire tenders had put out the fire, which was noticed around 2.15 a.m.
An electric short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire.
