Emergency surgery saves life

Thiruvananthapuram: An emergency surgery was performed on a 26-year-old woman, who was admitted to a private hospital in the city with a rare and life-threatening condition called Aortic dissection, following delivery.

Investigations revealed that her chest was filled with blood, following Aortic dissection. This condition is caused during pregnancy owing to a combination of factors such as hormonal effects on the elastin tissues and high blood pressure. The patient is recovering fast, a statement issued by the hospital said.
