Removing light from high-beam headlights

KOMARAPALAYAM: R. Haricharan, a fourth year Mechanical Engineering student of SSM College of Engineering, Komrapalayam, has thrown some `darkness' on a problem that most road users suffer in the evenings. He has come up with a low-cost, lightweight gadget that helps a rider/driver have a clear vision when oncoming vehicles blind the eye with high beam headlights. His device, if fit in your vehicle will sense the high beam from the oncoming vehicle, dip your vehicle's lights automatically, prompting the driver in the opposite direction to do the same.

If fit in vehicles moving in opposite directions, all the headlights will dip automatically as the sensor in the gadgets dips the lights, helping the drivers have a clear vision.

This model he has come up is only a prototype, he says. "This is only the basic model. I'm improving its functioning and adaptability." He says he his devising the gadget in such a way that even when the oncoming driver does not dip his lights, driver with the gadget has a clear vision.
