KOLLAM: CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said the plight of the Congress has come to such a pass that the leadership of that party is preventing its members from even talking out openly against communalism. Inaugurating a function organised to observe the anniversary of the October Revolution, Mr. Vijayan said while talking of some facts about the National Development Front (NDF), senior Congress leader Aryadan Mohammed made some adverse comments about the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). Mr. Vijayan alleged that like a mother goose, the IUML was sheltering the NDF. And now if anyone came forward to talk against communalism, the Congress leadership was restricting them. In the 2001 Assembly elections, the UDF came to power by appeasing the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and other communal forces. He said the CPI(M) was the first party to hit out at the NDF. The CPI(M) was also the first party to openly tell that the NDF was behaving the Marad riots.
