Stop UNI takeover, Left tells Manmohan

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Prakash Karat and his CPI counterpart, A.B. Bardhan urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to stop the takeover of UNI by a single media company.

They asked him to find out ways to help turn around the UNI so that it can function as an effective news agency.

Dr. Singh said he was awaiting a report from the Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi to act on the matter.
