Rail heritage museum

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway's Rail Heritage Museum will be open to the public from Thursday. The museum located at Rail Nilayam will be open from 10.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on all working days and there will be no entry fee. DSC answer sheets

HYDERABAD: The OMR answer sheets of the recently conducted DSC-2006 exams can be obtained on payment of Rs. 500 through demand draft or banker's cheque drawn in favour of "The Director of School Education, A.P. Hyd" payable at Hyderabad by November 16. The applications are to be submitted to District Educational Officer, Hyderabad district, opposite Nizam College. - Special Correspondent

Roof caves in, 30 hurt

VISAKHAPATNAM: Thirty persons were injured at Saluru in Vizinagaram district when the roof of a church under construction caved in on Tuesday.

Nine workers suffered fractures and the others suffered minor injuries. A case of `act of negligence endangering lives' was booked against the contractor and supervisor. - Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: About 1,000 delegates will attend the 12th national conference of the Society of Indian Radiographers on December 15 and 16 hosted by the Department of Radiology and Imaging at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS). HYDERABAD: Hutch cellular service on Tuesday introduced the World Calling Card, for economical long-distance calling for both its post-paid and pre-paid customers. The new card offers long distance tariffs up to 30 per cent lower than prevailing tariffs on ISD. -Staff Reporter

Held under Arms Act

NIZAMABAD: Three persons Santhose Reddy, Jangam Devidas and Yerram Pratap Reddy of Arakonda village in Tadwai mandal have been arrested under Andhra Pradesh Arms Act by Tadwai police for illegal possession of two single bore rifles and using them for hunting wild boars. The youth have allegedly been using them for terrorising villagers. - Staff Reporter

Folk festival

ADILABAD: A three-day regional folk festival for youth will be held at Adilabad between November 18 and 20 featuring programmes by artistes from 10 districts of Telangana. A carnival in which 200 artists are likely to participate will be the highlight of the festival. - Staff Reporter

State to buy paddy

HYDERABAD: The Government has decided to buy paddy even if it is discoloured or damaged in floods in Krishna, Prakasam, West and East Godavari districts. Purchases will be made through the Civil Supplies Corporation and other agencies. - Special Correspondent

Lifer for two

NANDYAL: Fifth Addition District and Sessions Court sentenced two persons to life on Tuesday for killing a person. According to prosecution, Ch. Srinivasulu, was done to death in Devanagar of Nandyal town in 2005. Mahabub Basha and Mahabub Vali figured as the accused. After examining the versions of prosecution and defence, Judge Ravindrababu convicted the two and awarded life imprisonment and Rs. 500 fine.

Bodies found in cave

KADAPA: The bodies of two Scheduled Tribes men Mutyala Siddhaiah, 40, and Mekala Chandraiah, 38, of Kummarampalle in Chakrayapet mandal, who disappeared on Monday, were found in a dilapidated cave near the village on Tuesday.

Four hurt in road accident

KADAPA: Four persons were injured when a car and an autorickshaw collided at Gundlur Vanka near Rajampet town on Tuesday. The injured personswere administered first aid in Rajampet Government hospital and were rushed to Tirupati for treatment.

Book fair opens

TIRUPATI : The Tirupati regional centre of Telugu Academy has on Tuesday opened a book fair as part of the week-long 22nd national book festival. In all, 467 titles such as popular editions, monographs, dictionaries, books useful for students doing professional courses, PG, degree, and Intermediate are on display at the fair which got under way on the premises of the TTD-run Kodandaramaswamy High School here.
