Nitesh advances into third round

HYDERABAD: Nitesh Vargiya scored a 72-30, 69-16, 65-25 win over Syed Abdullah in the snooker second round of the third-leg of the AP State open billiards and snooker tournament, sponsored by StudiOrion, here on Tuesday.

Easy for Youth League

Youth League scored a thumping 12-0 win over MCH Marredpally in the MCH open hockey tournament here on Tuesday. The winner led 6-0 at the break.

Winger Shyam struck four times while Paul Moses, Mahender scored two each. Madhu, Arun, Kripakar and Deepal Raj completed the tally for the Youth League.

In another match, MCH Amberpet recorded a 3-2 win over Secunderabad SC after leading 1-0 at the break. Deep Singh and Ghouse scored for MCH. Mohd. Taher and Javed scored for the loser.

Prathush, Hashish share the spoils

P. Prathush Reddy (five for 15) and Hashish (five for 23) helped Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan score a 137-run win over International School in the inter-schools (under-13) cricket tournament here.

The scores: Inter-schools (under-13): Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan 216 (C. Parajeeth 93, Prashanth 60, Akshay Raj five for 29, Mudassir three for 22) bt International School 79 (P. Prathush Reddy five for 15, Hashish five for 23).

A-Division (one-day) knockout: Galaxy 131 lost to Income Tax 133 for five (Rasheed 51, Satish four for 46).

Tennis tournament

Sun-Jay Tennis Academy (ASCI) will organise the AITA all-India talent series tennis tournament for boys and girls from November 20 to 25.

Inter-district TT

Nalgonda will host the inter-district table tennis tournament from November 8 to 12 at the District Sports Authority Indoor Stadium.

About 300 participants will vie for the top honours in the six age groups competitions that will be held during the five-day event.

Volleyball selection

Selection trials to pick the Hyderabad teams will be held at the L.B. Stadium here on November 10 and 11 for the Andhra Pradesh state sub-junior volleyball championships at Karimnagar from November 23 to 26.

Interested boys born on or after January 1, 1991 and girls on or after January 1, 1992 may contact the volleyball coach at the venue on November 10 at 7 a.m.

Veterans' swimming

Teams from Andhra Pradesh will take part in the third National masters swimming championships at Thiruvananthapuram from November 10 to 12.

Skating events

The Ranga Reddy District Roller Skating Association will conduct the district championships for men, women, junior and sub-junior boys and girls from November 11 to 13.

The artistic events will be held at Indira Park on November 13 from 4 p.m. and speed events on November 11 and 12 at DRS International school from 7 a..m. All rink races will be held at the DRS school from 8 a.m.
