Thiruvananthapuram : More police personnel will be deployed in busy junctions to regulate traffic and number of foot patrol will be increased in the Peroorkada police station limits once personnel from the Armed Reserve camp are deputed to stations. This was disclosed by Circle Inspector (Peroorkada) M. Radhakrishnan Nair at a meeting of Residents associations under the Peroorkada police station limits at Indira Nagar Residents Association hall on Sunday. Mr. Nair said steps would be taken to post traffic monitors in busy junctions like Kuravankonam and Kurisady to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and to help pedestrians to cross the road. He sought the cooperation of residents association to rope in firms to sponsor the traffic monitors. On the congestion and traffic snarls in Peroorkada and Ambalamukku junctions, he said adequate personnel had been posted during peak hours. The problem in the two busy junctions can be solved permanently only with the widening of the road and junction improvements. Pointing out that the number of thefts in the station limits had come down drastically, he urged the residents association office-bearers and the public to keep a watch on suspicious persons moving in their locality. The incidents of attempted day theft near Mannamoola and that of chain snatching near the Rural SP office were informed at the meeting. Mr. Nair said the public should immediately inform such incidents so that the police can keep vigil on such localities and bring to book those involved. The lack of zebra crossings at Peroorkada and Ambalamukku junctions and the delay to properly fill the trenches that are left after giving water and sewerage connections came up at the meeting. Sub-Inspector S. Sreekanth, who was also present, said patrolling had been intensified in the station limits and steps have been taken to ensure that the beat books are checked by the officials at least once a week. The illegal parking of two-wheelers on footpath at Peroorkada, shifting of auto stand from Mannanthala-Perrorkada road, illegal parking near the U-turn in front of St. Mary's School at Pattom, near Santwana Hospital and Peroorkada-AKG Nagar figured in the meeting.
