ALAPPUZHA: Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) district president M.J. Job said here on Tuesday that the party district unit fully supported the move of the party to merge with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and 25,000 party workers from the district would participate in the unity meeting to be held in Kochi on November 12. Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Job said there was no meaning in the demand of the Congress leaders that Kuttanad MLA Thomas Chandy who won the Assembly elections as UDF candidate should join the Congress as the DIC(K) was merging with the NCP, which was a partner of the LDF. He said by the same logic, the Congress leaders should also demand that those Congress MLAs from the district who won the last elections with the support of the DIC(K) also should resign from the Congress and join the DIC(K). Party aimless
Mr. Job said the developments in the Congress proved that the party was moving in an aimless way. The move in Alappuzha was to provide top positions to those who strived to defeat Congress leaders V.M. Sudheeran and KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala from Alappuzha and Mavelikara constituencies respectively in the last Lok Sabha elections.
