ALAPPUZHA: The Alappuzha District Congress Committee is organising a meeting of party workers at Ramankary in Kuttanad on November 9 at 2 p.m. as part of efforts to facilitate the intervention of the Central and State Governments to save the farmers of Kuttanad, DCC president C.R. Jayaprakash has said. At a press conference here, Mr. Jayaprakash said leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy and KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala and Congress MLAs from the district would participate. The DCC would handover to the Congress leaders a memorandum to be submitted to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, said Mr. Jayaprakash. The memorandum would demand a special package for Kuttanad, said Mr. Jayaprakash.
