MAHABUBNAGAR : A unanimous resolution urging the Government to allocate 60 tmcft of water from the Krishna to Kalwakurthy lift irrigation scheme was passed by the district review committee (DRC) meeting held here on Tuesday. The DRC held under the chairmanship of district in-charge and Minister for Labour and Employment G.Vinod requested the Government to construct as many storage tanks as possible under the ongoing irrigation projects in the district. The members of DRC opined that as all the lift irrigations schemes that are being constructed in the district would be fed by floodwater of the Krishna, the storage tanks could be filled whenever there are floods in the river. TDP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy said that Kalwalurthy lift irrigation scheme should be allocated 60 tmcft of water instead of the proposed 25 tmcft as the ayacut under it had been enhanced from 2.5 lakh acres to over 6 lakh acres.
