NALGONDA : The State Government has chalked out an ambitious plan to strengthen tanks that are in bad shape in villages. Addressing a review meeting at the Collectorate here on Tuesday, the Minister for Rural Development D.Srinivas said: "We accord top priority for water conversation. A tank in every village will be developed from January next. Removal of silt and strengthening of bunds would be taken up to make use of the dilapidated tanks to their full capacity." Reacting to the Nalgonda MLA K.Venkat Reddy's suggestion, the Minister said that the Government was planning to construct a meeting hall in every gram panchayat for the members of the self help groups. When Collector K.Vijayanand said that a particular model in which River Osmosis (RO) technique is used to supply safe drinking water for the 60 villages for cheaper rates, Mr.Srinivas evinced keen interest to know about it.
