KARIMNAGAR: The Andhra Bank ATM on the premises of police headquarters shopping complex in Karimnagar town has set a milestone in the country by registering the highest number of hits (usage of ATM card for banking transaction) per day. Against the national average of 250 to 300, this ATM has 700 to 1,000 hits per day amounting to money transactions of about Rs. 20 lakhs. This has been attributed to issue of over 15,000 ATM cards to its customers and distribution of salaries of the entire Police Department, RTC, Karimnagar Municipal Corporation and civil hospital staff in the town through Andhra Bank. Andhra Bank Chief Manager M.M. Sudhakar told The Hindu that the branch has about 42,000 customers. "In the first week of every month, we reload the machine with additional currency every day to meet the demand of customers, he said.
Credibility factor
Though customers can collect cash from any ATM of the bank in the town, people prefer to collect it at an ATM facility of their own branch because of credibility, he said. Besides, this ATM is centrally located and has ample parking space. At present, Karimnagar town has seven Andhra Bank ATMs and there are plans to set up some more in the near future.
