A love for Tamil

Chief Secretary L.K. Tripathy has made a lot of friends in many political parties.

The reason: his insistence on speaking in Tamil in all official functions.

Though he stumbles upon a word occasionally he says he will continue to speak in Tamil.

He has been improving his speech delivery at each function.

At the function to felicitate those who had fought to ensure that Tamil Nadu did not lose chunks of territory to neighbouring States, every political leader on the dais was seen smiling as he delivered his speech.

Mr. Tripathy says that he is comfortable talking in Tamil to individuals.

Speaking in Tamil on stage was a recent addition.

And unlike many of his north Indian counterparts in the service who prefer to write Tamil speeches in Devanagri script, his written script is also in Tamil.
