KURNOOL : Fair price shop dealers have complained of poor quality of `Punjab' rice supplied through public distribution system in Kurnool district. The dealers refused to collect the rice allotted this month on the ground that the stocks supplied last month have not been exhausted as yet. The discoloured and poor quality rice was rejected by consumers outright even though supplied at Rs 5.25 a kg. FP Dealers Association president Venkatesh Goud said the body lodged a complaint with the District Manager of Civil Supplies and communicated their inability to receive the stock this month. He said the consumers who were used to quality rice of Andhra Pradesh for six months in a year were reluctant to buy `Punjab rice' variety.
