Session deferred

Hyderabad: The winter session of the Assembly is likely to begin from December 11 and last till December 22 or 23. Earlier the session was supposed to be held from November 15. But in view of the notification for by-polls in Bobbili and Karimnagar it has been postponed.

Venkata Rama Rao, Deputy Executive Engineer of Panchayat Raj Department in Gudivada of Krishna district, on charge of possessing assets disproportionate to his sources of income. 3 killed in accident

VIZIANAGARAM: Three persons were killed and five others injured when a bus from Tagarapuvalasa collided with an autorickshaw on NH-43 near Pradeepnagar in the town on Wednesday.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Two Chetak helicopters from Eastern Naval Command participated in flood-relief operations around Machilipatnam for three days, according to a press release on Wednesday. The helicopters flew 10 sorties to conduct aerial search and dropped 3.4 tonnes of flood relief material. - Special Correspondent

Fillip to EMRI fleet

HYDERABAD: A fleet of 50 to 70 vehicles belonging to the Government will join the Emergency Management and Research Institute by December first week to provide increased ambulance services to the needy. Exhibition inaugurated

Kakinada: Mayor K. Saroja inaugurated the Orissa Crafts Bazaar, an exhibition of Orissa handicrafts, here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion she said handicrafts reflected our culture and heritage and underlined the need to patronise artisans.

Durga Prasad Mishra, chief of Maa Taradevi Stone and Wood Manufacturing Co-operative Society, that is organising the exhibition, said 46 craftsmen were exhibiting their products at the event that would be on till November 19. - Correspondent

`Shankaravam' on AIDS from Nov. 18

VISAKHAPATNAM: The city-based Bhadram Foundation Welfare Society is organising Shankaravam, a programme to create awareness on AIDS and HIV, from November 18 to December 1, according to its secretary S. David Raju.

The programme includes a roadshow, competitions for the city college and school students in singing, spot painting and essay writing on HIV and AIDS, and a north coastal Andhra level street-play competition.

In the road-show , 40 street plays would be staged at 10 important centres of the city.
