Ch. Vidayasagar Rao
VIJAYAWADA: Bharatiya Janata Party will field former Union Minister Ch. Vidyasagar Rao in the by-election to the Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency slated for December 4. The party, however, is yet to finalise its candidate for Bobbili Lok Sabha constituency. Announcing this a press conference on Wednesday, State unit president of the party N. Indrasena Reddy exuded confidence that the party would win. He said the BJP had won many elections wherever there was a multi-cornered contest so far. Since the Congress, TDP and TRS were in the fray, it would be a cakewalk for the BJP he said. Mr. Reddy said that the by-election would not be a referendum on Telangana, but on the leadership of TRS president and the party's nominee in the election K. Chandrasekhara Rao. "Though Mr. Rao represented the Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency, he did nothing for its development. He did not visit the constituency after the elections and he had no contact with people of the constituency," he said. Mr. Reddy said that as a Union Minister, Mr. Vidyasagar Rao did a lot for the development of Karimnagar and earned a special place in the hearts of the people. "BJP has a clear policy on Telangana. People know that only BJP can achieve separate statehood for Telangana," he claimed.
