VIJAYAWADA: As rainwater receded from railway tracks, the Vijayawada division of the South Central Railway resumed train services between the city and Machilipatnam on Wednesday. There was no road transport between Machilipatnam and Challapalli, as rainwater continued to stagnate on the road.
Still under water
Water was yet to recede from Machilipatnam, Challapalli, Ghantasala and Movva mandals. Farm fields and a few residential colonies in these mandals were still under water. Sixty-five-year old Vishnudasu Annapurnamma of Chinna Muktevi died in a wall collapse on Tuesday night. The wall of her house was soaked in rainwater and was collapsed on her, the Kuchipudi police said.
