HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of High Court on Wednesday adjourned the writ petition pertaining to the controversy regarding distance between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the Himayatsagar bund to Monday. It may be recalled that S. Jeevananda Reddy, an environmental activist, filed the writ petition complaining that the distance between the ORR and Himayatsagar bund is less than 500 metres at several places in spite of the condition stipulated by the Pollution Control Board (PCB). When dispute arose regarding the length of the bund, the Bench called for a report from PCB and it was reported that the bund is of 2,257 metres length. The counsel for the ORR project director, claimed that HUDA was intending to create a green belt of 500 metres between the ORR and the tank bund for only a stretch of 1,400 metres of the bund. The Bench adjourned the matter to Monday directing the counsel appearing for PCB, petitioner, ORR project director, and HUDA to visit the lake to make their submissions on Monday.
