VISUAL DELIGHT: A painting by artist Sanjib Saha
Delhi is a city steeped in history. That this Edwin Lutyens-designed city is teeming with marvellously constructed heritage monuments is a testimony to this fact. The beauty of these monuments -- gargantuan as well as small -- and their architectural and textural compositions have given this city an appealing look. Now a two-day exhibition of paintings titled "Delhi -- A City of Monuments" is opening at Hotel Taj Palace here from this Saturday. Delhi-based artist Sanjib Saha, who has been exhibiting his artistic creations since 1989, has come out with intelligent and breathtaking works that highlight the blossoming trees of spring and the delicate branch-rich trees of autumn depicting nature's grandeur with artistic perfection. Artistic expression brings a distinct variety of form, texture and colour to depict change of season. The verdant greens, golden yellows, glowing oranges and earthy browns -- all harmonise and create a refreshing monumental landscape. In his long and exciting visual journey of 20 years, Saha has explored various genres of designs and his works have been published and collected in India as well as overseas. The beautiful new collection of Saha's paintings is his 20th solo show that takes on a fresh dimension of contemporary art using space, light and shadow. -- Madhur Tankha
