Training begins for SHG animators in Dharmapuri

Dharmapuri: Tamil Nadu Women Development Corporation in association with Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society (TANSACS) and Tamil Nadu Non-Governmental Organisation and Voluntary Resource Centre has started a programme to train SHG animators on creating HIV/AIDS awareness at Nallampalli block here on Wednesday.

Inaugurating the programme, Collector Pankaj Kumar Bansal said the training was being implemented in seven districts in the State, including Dharmapuri. In the first phase, District Level Master trainers were selected and trained by TANSACS. During the second phase Panchayat Level Federation (PLF) trainees were selected by the Project Implementation Unit of Mahalir Thittam and trained by the Master Trainers for five days at the rate of five persons for a block. A total of 39 PLF members had been trained in eight blocks in Dharmapuri district till date.

In the third phase, PLF trainers would give training to SHG animators for three days. A total of 5,073 SHGs were functioning under Mahalir Thittam in Dharmapuri district. All these groups would be given training from November 9 in a phased manner. In the fourth stage, trained animators would give training to their respective SHG members in each village panchayat for three days a week.

Training materials such as flip chart and calendars were supplied to the animators and the SHG members. Training would be given to all women SHGs and their families in the district, Mr. Bansal added. Project Officer, Mahalir Thittam, Mohammed Sheriff was present.
