A dream gone sour

NEW DELHI: Thursday was a busy day at Miranda House here as the Political Science Society of the college screened a 75-minute film, "1000 Days And A Dream". Directed by P. Baburaj and C. Saratchandran, the film documents poignant moments in the four and a half years of the anti-Coca Cola struggle at Plachimada in Kerala.

The film captures the spirit of the anti-Coca Cola struggle, traces the history of the struggle, and discuses the several issues raised by it. It projects the dreams and sorrows of these people.

The cola plant that was set up in March 2000 not only led to a water crisis but also made the water unfit for use. Moreover, solid waste from the plant spoilt agricultural crops.

Inter-school technology quiz

NEW DELHI: Tata Consultancy Services will host the country's largest inter-school information technology quiz for the first time at Sri Sathya Sai Auditorium here on November 16.

Aimed at enhancing IT awareness among students, the quiz is open to school children from Class VIII to Class XII. No registration fee will be charged. Each institution is allowed to send multiple teams (two members per team) to participate.

Free laparoscopic surgery camp

NEW DELHI: Bhatia Global Hospital and Endosurgery Institute on the occasion of its fifth anniversary is organising a free laparoscopic surgery camp for needy and deserving patients at its premises here from November 18 to November 25. Eminent surgeons from the country and abroad will be performing surgeries. Using minimally invasive laparoscopy technique of surgery, patients will be treated for obesity, hernia, uterus removal, infertility and piles.

NIIT programme

NEW DELHI: NIIT, Asia's largest Information Technology leader, on Thursday announced the launch of NIIT NetworkLABS- Industry Endorsed Networking and Infrastructure Management Programme.

The programme has been designed keeping in mind current as well as emerging networking trends.

Seminar

NEW DELHI: Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Management and Research organised a seminar on ``Innovative Practices in Management" for BBA students. Rakesh Kumar Jain, Director-Recruitment, Lok Sabha Secretariat, who was the chief guest, shared his experience with the management students on how he implemented some innovative practices.
