LUCKNOW : Buoyed by its performance in the Uttar Pradesh local bodies elections, the Congress will launch a jail bharo agitation from November 20 against the Mulayam Singh Yadav regime. This would be followed by a gherao of Lucknow on November 27. The jail bharo call had been given by the Congress president and United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi at her Rae Bareilly rally on September 20. The party will also raise the alleged poll irregularities and booth capturing by Samajwadi Party workers in the Vidhan Sabha on Friday. The House is meeting on Friday for a daylong session. Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Salman Khurshid said the jail bharo agitation would continue till November 24 and would be divided into four phases. Each day, Congressmen in two zones or sectors would participate in the jail bharo stir. (The State had been divided into eight sectors, each under the charge of a sector in charge). Mr. Khurshid said the Congressmen would gherao the State capital on November 27. The detailed programme would be chalked out in a couple of days.
