Shanta Biotech's achievement

HYDERABAD: City-based Shanta Biotechnics, known for its Hepatitis B recombinant vaccine, has become the first Indian bio-pharmaceutical company to attract foreign investment in the sector. French bio-pharma major, Merieux Alliance, has obtained about 60 per cent stake in the company and making it the worldwide centre for prophylactic vaccine activities. Shanta Biotech managing director Varaprasad Reddy will continue in his post in the new entity. He said the deal helped the company move into a higher orbit.
