BANGALORE: The Urban Development Department has estimated that Greater Bangalore will require an additional 1,200 personnel. This is in addition to the existing staff in Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP), the seven City Municipal Councils (CMCs) and one Town Municipal Council (TMC). The Government would have to spend Rs. 15.39 crore annually towards salary for the additional staff. It was decided that the existing three zones of the BMP would be increased to eight separate zones under the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). Last week, the Government issued a notification for creation of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (Greater Bangalore City Corporation) by merging the seven CMCs of Rajarajeshwarinagar, Dasarahalli, Bommanahalli, Krishnarajapuram, Mahadevapura, Byatarayanapura, the Kengeri TMC and 111 villages with BMP for their overall development. Of the 111 villages, one was in Anekal taluk, 46 villages in Bangalore East taluk, 37 in Bangalore South taluk and 27 villages in Bangalore North taluk.
