Five-year-old run over by lorry

BANGALORE: Five-year-old Sumaiya, a kindergarten student, died on the spot after she was run over by a van at Valmikinagar in the Chamarajpet police station limits on Thursday. The van driver, Syed Aslam, was roughed up by the public and later handed over to the police.

A student of Ayesha Urdu School, Sumaiya was playing near her house on 7th Cross, 2nd Main, Valmikinagar, when the accident took place. Onlookers rushed to the scene and beat up the driver. He was treated at a hospital and remanded in judicial custody. The victim was the daughter of Basha Khan, a businessman.

In another accident on Thursday, an engineer from ITPL, Rajesh Narayan (24), was fatally knocked down by a truck in the Mahadevapura police station limits.
