KOCHI: The Kerala State Cooperative Rubber Marketing Federation (Rubbermark) plans to set up 12 industrial units in Ernakulam district. The estimated investment will be Rs.100 crore. The move aims at improving employment prospects in the rural areas, Rubbermark president T.H. Musthaffa said. He said Rubbermark had acquired 12 acres of land at Vazhakkulam, near Perumbavoor, to set up the units. Tyres, rubber mats, industrial components and furniture would be manufactured at the units. A project report would be ready by November end. He said that though the problems faced by the cooperative marketing sector had been brought to the notice of the Government, it was yet to take any action in this regard. He urged the Government to include rubber in the sensitive list so as to control the import of rubber.
