KOCHI: Former Indian cricketer S. Ramesh, one of the two professional players selected by the Kerala Cricket Association to play for its team in the forthcoming Ranji Trophy, has suffered a knee injury. He would miss Kerala's Plate League matches, which begin this month. "We have received a letter from Ramesh regarding the injury. The letter says that he needs to have six weeks therapy, so we'll have to count him out," said the KCA secretary T.C. Mathew on Friday. Ramesh's injury should be a big setback as he was the team's top run-getter last season with 395 runs from five matches. "We may now sign Karnataka's Sujith Somasunder. We'll finalise things in a few days," said Mr. Mathew. Kerala plays its first three matches in Palakkad with the opener against Vidarbha slated for November 23. The team will be announced on November 16. Principal Correspondent
