Thiruvanchoor flays Government

Staff Reporter

PATHANAMTHITTA: The former Water Resources Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has alleged that the decision of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government to release the Neyyar river waters to Tamil Nadu, sidelining the suggestions of the Opposition in this regard, has ultimately proved to be a bane to the Government.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Radhakrishnan alleged that the LDF Government had reportedly given an assurance to the Tamil Nadu Government to release the Neyyar waters to Tamil Nadu well before the local body elections there.

Mr. Radhakrishnan alleged that the Government decision to release water to Tamil Nadu without holding talks with the Opposition would cost the State dear.

He has called upon the Government to prepare a special package, after consultation with all political parties, for resolving the water disputes with neighbouring States.
