KANNUR: The Priyadarshini Charitable Trust will start a scheme to assist orphaned schoolchildren from economically backward families for continuing their education up to Class X and beyond. Trust chairman M.B.K. Alavil and secretary A.K. Raveendran said at a press conference here on Saturday that the scheme is the second charity initiative by the trust which had earlier started `Santhwanam,' a free old age home at Poothappara here. The Study Aid Centre, as the new initiative was named, would be inaugurated by social critic Sukumar Azhikode at the Santhwanam Old Age Home on Children's Day on November 14. In the first phase, three children of Azhikode South U.P. School would be included in the scheme, they said.
