KOCHI: The Kerala Candle Manufacturers' Association has demanded that the recent hike in the price of paraffin wax be rolled back considering the nearly 25 per cent fall in petroleum in the international market. An association statement said the hike would affect the livelihood of about two lakh people who depended on the candle-making industry. Chennai Petroleum Corporation, part of the Indian Oil Corporation, hiked Rs.4,500 for a tonne of paraffin wax, said the press release. At the same time, candle-makers were unable to realise proportionate price for their products. The release also said that the hike in paraffin wax price was unjustified. The association urged the chairman of Chennai Petroleum to withdraw the price hike.
