KOCHI: The IBS group, a leading provider of new-generation IT solutions to the global travel, transportation and logistics industry, has established a base in Tokyo, Japan, as part of its global expansion plans. The group had signed up with Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) as the launch customer for its new-generation Cargo Management System - iCargo, said V.K. Mathews, chairman and managing director of the Thiruvananthapuram-based firm. IBS was ready to position itself as a leading IT solutions provider in the travel, transportation and logistics domain and address the business needs of the Japanese market. Mr. Mathews said that IBS Software Services has been successfully assessed at PCMM Level 5. The rating agency was KPMG, which announced the findings at Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, this week. Developed by the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, the United States, PCMM (People Capability Maturity Model) is a maturity framework which focusses on continuous improvement of the management and development of the human assets of an organisation. Level-5 is the highest level of PCMM assessment. With this, IBS has become part of an elite group of software companies, said Mr. Mathews. Answering a question, Mr. Mathews said IBS had already made a foray into the services sector and was targeting 100 per cent growth this year. The present turnover of $50 million is to go up to $350 to 400 million by 2012, he said. IBS, with centres at Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram and Infopark in Kochi, offers a range of software products.
