VIZIANAGARAM: The three-day State-level sports meet for visually challenged, being organised by Netra Vidyalaya-Jeeyar Educational Trust, began at Ayodhya Maidan here on Saturday. B. Satyanarayana, Minister for Marketing, unfurled the national flag while Sri Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja China Jeeyar Swamy lighted the lamp to mark the inauguration of the event. Some 400 children from various schools in the State were taking part in 19 events.
Help assured
After receiving guard of honour from the participants, the Minister asked the children to face the challenges ahead and promised to help them in all respects. Sri China Jeeyar Swamy said that the events were being conducted to share the joy of the visually challenged and appealed to people to cooperate for the welfare of society.
Sports school
Zilla Parishad Chairperson B. Jhansi Lakshmi said that the district would soon get a sports school. MLA Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy, District Sports Development Officer P. Ramakrishna and others participated.
