Hubli-Dharwad
Staff Correspondent
HUBLI: Unless the investigating officers are armed with the latest technology and have updated information on the ways of the criminals, it is difficult to tackle crime, Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissioner Narayan Nadamani has said. He was speaking after inaugurating the two-day orientation programme for police personnel on "Cyber Laws and Cyber Crimes" organised under the auspices of Gurusiddappa Kotambri Law College and Cyber Law College, Chennai here on Saturday. The Police Commissioner said investigating a cyber crime was a very difficult task as there would be nothing as concrete evidence. Presiding over the inaugural function, Shankranna Munavalli, president, Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that with increased dependence on computers and emergence of e-business and e-governance, the risks involved also had increased. Na. Vijayashankar, Director of Cyber Law College, Chennai, and Bangalore, who conducted the workshop said that for e-business to succeed, good law and order should exist in cyber space. Earlier welcoming the gathering, principal of G.K. Law College, said the objective of the workshop was to enable the law enforcement agency to detect such offences. Knowledge of law as well as technology was essential in detecting cyber crimes, he added.
