Keep jawans stress-free, CRPF officers told

NEW DELHI: In the wake of increase in stress-related killings and suicides in uniformed forces, CRPF chief J.K. Sinha on Saturday had a piece of advice for his young officers — keep the jawans at ease to check such incidents.

Addressing the passing-out parade of the 37th batch at the CRPF Academy in Kadarpur near Gurgaon, the Director-General said he was of the view that the behaviour of officers was key to reducing stress among jawans.

The main goal of officers should be to ensure that the jawans are given just treatment and cared for. A healthy feeling of camaraderie should be maintained at the unit level, he told the officers inducted into the force.

The CRPF would focus more on raising the training standards in view of its expanding size and role. It had been given the responsibility of maintaining internal security and assist the local police during disasters and riot situations.

In such a scenario, it is essential that the personnel are fully prepared, both mentally and physically, to meet the challenges and this can only be ensured through proper and extensive training, he added. — PTI
