BIJAPUR: The municipal and district administrations continued the "clear encroachment drive" on Athani Road on Saturday. The operations were mainly limited to clearing of debris and the felled trees. Many complained that the drive lacked a human face, and there had been discrimination. "Some owners were given enough time to dismantle half of their building on their own. As the squad dismantled our buildings partially with the help of earthmovers, the remaining portion of the structures have been weakened," said Sadashiva. Nearly 50 students staying in the hostel of Kalidas Vidya Samsthe have been put to hardship as the building was partially dismantled. Jiddi, a managing body member, said the the water tank had been "destroyed" although it was within the boundary of the institution's land.
