An uneventful day

GULBARGA: It was an uneventful day at the junior State athletics championship at the Chandrashekar Patil Sports Complex here on Saturday. But the heartening aspect was the surge by the athletes from Sports Schools of Chandargi, Kudige and Vidyanagar that brought cheer to a host of coaches who have been striving long for the results.

Chandargi and Kudige athletes virtually stole the show in the lower age groups even as Youngsters Sports Club, Bangalore, made its presence felt in the under-20 and under-18 boys section in a big way.

Though the timings and distances were far from impressive, Sheetal Kumar, Friday's record breaker, almost did an encore in the boys under-18 shot put event but fell short by .03 metres of the record, putting to a distance of 15.43 metres.
